Abuja - The Deputy Leader of Biafra
Nations Youth League, Ebuta Takon, has
called for unity among communities to
ensure the independence of Biafra from
Nigeria.
He particularly appealed to the people of
South-south.
“It is ridiculous for some people in South
south to say they are not Biafrans and
prefer Nigeria, if I may ask, who are we?”
quipped Takon.
“There are so many agitations in South
south, you hear of Ogoni agitations for a
Republic, you hear of Niger Delta, you hear
of Bakassi Republic, and so on, it baffles
me that we are on the wrong track.”
He expressed surprise that some Igbos in
Rivers and Delta “hid under the auspicious
of Niger Delta to curry favor from Nigeria.”
“We must not continue to be deceived by
Northerners, they do this to claim more oil
well in South south,” said Takon.
“I also advise the Igbo Biafrans to stop
regarding the people from South south as
saboteurs,” added Takon.
Biafra Nations Youth League is among
organisations advocating for the
independence of Biafra.
Biafra was a secessionist state in then
southeastern Nigeria that existed from
1967 to 1970.
